The pipeline in the Texas, United States, which carries the lion's share of the natural gas of the country, is subjected to failure. The Texas pipeline was constructed a decade ago and it has the capacity to carry oil and gas over 30000 miles to 45000 miles. The federal governors cautioned the companies using pipelines older than two decades and admonished those companies to examine the pipeline and replace the substandard fitting with the advance tools. Many pipeline analysts described that, the protective coatings on the pipeline after a certain period, becomes corroded and it may lead to the leakage of the oil and natural gas, if it is unnoticed it will emerge as a huge disaster. The news report released by veterans in the oil and gas industry portrayed that, stern rules and regulations should be followed during the inspection process of the pipeline and in the past five years, a couple of accidents took place due to the antiquated pipeline fittings.
The natural gas and oil wells are present under the tilled land and in the forest of the central Quebec. The gas lines in the Quebec region can produce enough gas for the next two centuries and this will be a strong source of income to the country and reduces the dependence on other foreign countries and companies for energy. The shale gas exploration may lead to the contamination of potable water; increases the emission of the green house gas and the drilling it will create huge noise which will agitate the people in the nearby regions. Many new innovative methods are introduced in the shale gas drilling such as drilling the well vertically, usage of hydraulic fracturing, injecting chemicals, sand and water at high pressure into the rock and allow the gas to flow. From the past three years, the oil and natural gas companies kicked off exploring shale gas in Quebec in a different method called Utica shale and till now nearly 28 oil wells are dug in the Quebec and nearly 15 of these well is fitted with hydraulic fracturing.

Price of the natural gas is hit hard from the past few weeks and the reason for such abrupt drop is the difference between the demand and supply of the natural gas. The advent of the new technologies has eased the extraction of the gas and oil and many oil companies have reduced the production and waiting at the price recovery. The Energy Information Association of the United States declared a report on the production of natural gas for the year 2010; it was increased around 2.5 percent greater than the previous year's production.
