There may be some very good news for balding men and women who have been hoping for a "miracle cure for baldness". New research has unveiled a discovery of a special protein which actually dictates the formation and growth of new hair follicles, specifically, in the human body.

In other words, the key to causing new hair growth and making baldness "extinct" may be closer than we think. It's pretty exciting stuff, and it's really part of a larger body of research that has demonstrated we may have more power over cellular growth and manipulation than we thought.

You see, our genes produce proteins that go and "communicate" to our body as to where certain bodily attributes will grow, or originate, such as hair follicles. Scientists have identified one of the three proteins that tells the body to produce more hair follicles, making the manipulation of hair growth much closer than it ever was before, scientifically and realistically speaking.

Unfortunately, we all know how long new technology usually takes to actually morph into something that can be used by the general public.

This new technology, while promising, has not been manipulated in such a way that it can be used by people yet. It's only been tested on mice so far, and has proven successful in creating "furrier" mice.

We don't know how long it will be before this new technology makes it to market for human use, or if it is even safe for long term use, consumption, or topical application, whichever the method may be.

It will need to go through a lot more testing, as well as be approved for public human use by the FDA, the Food and Drug Administration, before it can be sold as either an over the counter hair loss and balding medication or treatment, or even a prescription treatment or medication for balding men and women.

Right now, we are still seeing a lot of natural hair loss remedies that can help you regrow your hair, mostly through nutritional additions to your diet that may be lacking, and can cause or contribute to hair loss in men and women.

There are also popular over the counter hair loss treatments with an ingredient called Rogaine, which is supposed to help promote the growth of healthy new hair and help repair damaged or unproductive hair follicles.

Berry Good News - A Promising Cancer Cure

If you haven't yet read about the news on blackberries, I'm sure in short time, you will. The black raspberry is proving itself to be an even bigger anti-inflammatory agent than the long attested blueberry.

Scientists from Ohio State and Kentucky Universities jointly conducted a study on 20 patients with pre-cancerous oral lesions using only freeze-dried blackberries and KY jelly. They had the patients apply it to the lesions four times a day for six weeks. Several of the patients reversed their condition and more than half showed significant improvement.

This would be a real break-through given that most patients who are diagnosed with oral cancers, approximately 80 diagnosis a day in the U.S. according to the American Cancer Society, usually end up looking disfigured even after plastic surgery with the current treatments that are available.

A Kentucky Company, Four Tigers, that grows blackberries thinks it would certainly be a twist if Kentucky goes from a state that relied heavily on it's tobacco products for income producing, to one that produces a crop that fights cancer.

A preliminary test on colon cancer cells was also done by Russell Mumper, vice chair and associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences at UK. A blackberry extract was introduced into colonies of colon cancer cells in vitro. Normally. these types of cells, almost double on a daily basis. It was found that the extract stopped the growth of these colon cancer cells.

The same berry solution also showed promise of slowing down the growth of skin cancer in mice.

A larger trial is planned involving several different cancer centers and a gel product is going through final stage approvals with the possibility of being available in stores in one to two years.

If the preliminaries are any indication of things to come regarding blackberries, I see this as just one more natural product that should be added to your list of cancer fighting agents that everyone should include in their diets. This is one that would definitely not be hard to swallow!

Many late bloomers grow more attractive and confident as they age. And many have cultivated other aspects of their personalities and talents, and with increased confidence have proven their abilities. It just takes late bloomers longer to discover their abilities and themselves.

Delivering bad news, whether communicating up, down, or across the organization, is a difficult task. Two questions often come to mind on this dilemma:

Answer the tough questions up front. The best way to structure a bad news message is to answer the tough questions up front. For example, if a manager must announce layoffs, he should answer his employees' specific questions first rather than beat around the bush. The employees' questions will likely be: How does this affect me? What is my severance package? When will this take place?

Be direct. Be honest, but be sensitive. Avoid language that attempts to evade responsibility or obscure the issue. In addition, speak in the active voice to show that you accept accountability. For example: "I have reviewed your request for a marketing assistant, but unfortunately I can't squeeze any more out of the budget this year."

Use clear language. Too often, unclear statements result in misunderstandings and misinterpretations. Rehearse what you need to say beforehand to prevent making any misleading or vague statements. Use straightforward sentences and language to convey the bad news.

For a feature story to be successful, at least one anecdote should be included to help readers visualize the 'reality' of a situation or the life of the person being told in the anecdote.

Pedophiles have been making the news quite regularly lately. First it was the pedophile "instruction manual" found in Florida. Then it was the expose involving NAMBLA's substantial presence in Facebook. Now it is the uproar over Amazon.com allowing the book "A Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure" to be sold on its virtual shelves.

Yes, Pedophiles have been all over national headlines lately, and many people are hopping mad. I, for one, think it is a good thing. Let me be absolutely and perfectly clear that I think these pedophiles and pedophile organizations, and everything they stand for are absolutely horrible, detestable and repulsive. That being said, I think it is a good thing that someone was stupid enough to write a book on how to sexually abuse children and then let that book get into the hands of the police. I think it is good that NAMBLA was discovered hiding in plain sight on Facebook. I also think it is good that "A Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure" was placed for sale on Amazon.com.

Let me explain. I firmly believe that for a long time we have been under an "illusion of knowledge" when it comes to our efforts to protect children from sexual abuse. We have been deluded for so long into believing that what we do to protect children for pedophiles, predators and molesters has been working. Well, it does not. Tens of millions of people in this country who are child sexual abuse survivors, many of whom are suffering in silence, would tell you. Now, cold, hard pedophile news facts are telling you the same thing, only louder.

As is usually the case with alarming news, the natural reaction to these latest pedophile news stories is to "shoot" the wrong people. Boycott Amazon, maybe boycott Facebook (no wait, we're addicted to Facebook, and it's free so we can't do that). I certainly think Amazon should seriously reconsider what types of books it is willing to sell (for example would they sell a book teaching people step by step how to kill people and get away with it?) I also think Facebook needs to seriously reconsider the efforts it dedicates to keeping its networks safer. Wasting time organizing boycotts with the intent to do damage to these businesses though, seems to me to be a waste of time.

Instead, take these news developments for what they are. They are a wake up call and a declaration of war - a war for the minds, hearts and spirits of our children. As with any other time the enemy is so accommodating as to visibly and loudly declare war, and then lay out their plans (what do you think is contained in those books), it would behoove us to dedicate our efforts to learning everything we can about the enemy and their plans so we can effectively fight back.

The recent pedophile news stories show how sophisticated and organized pedophiles, predators and molesters are. It is a wakeup call. They are tipping their hand. We need to take this opportunity to learn everything about them and then develop and implement child sexual abuse prevention strategies that actually work. That's what I'll be doing.

That means that all of those friends that you have found, you could quickly forget about again because you are not seeing any activity from them.

Fortunately, this is a easy problem to remedy. To change your news feed back to the way that it originally was all you have to do is to log into your Facebook account and click the HOME button first. There, at the top of the page you will see an option that says MOST RECENT. Click on MOST RECENT and you will see EDIT OPTIONS... Click on EDIT OPTIONS and you will see something in bold at the top that says: Show posts from:

This is where you want the option reset. It will be defaulted to 'Friends and pages you interact with most'. You can change it here back to 'All of your friends and pages'. Then you will once again get news from all of your friends.

On the other hand...

There is always two side to every story. What about those friends that you really didn't want to friend in the first place. You don't want to unfriend them because that may hurt their feelings and let them know that you truly don't want to be Facebook friends with any way. Well, this is your saving grace. The new default for the Facebook feed will leave them out of your status updates and you out of theirs if you don't communicate directly with them.

2010 UFO News - Two Different Views Of The Visitors

His reasoning is incredibly simple and yet highly logical. This universe contains an estimated 100 billion galaxies. Yes, galaxies! As you know our own planet is but one of many in the Milky Way galaxy.

Hawking suggests that each galaxy contains hundreds of millions of stars and planets. In such an immense space, it is highly unlikely and indeed, illogical, to expect that Earth is the only planet to hold life.

He believes the important question is not "do aliens exist?" but "what are they like?" While Hawking expects that most other life will be extremely simple such as microbes, at least a few of the life forms out there are certain to not only be intelligent but also likely to present a threat to humans.

Professor Hawking considers the possibility that aliens may have already exhausted all natural resources on their home-world so have taken to space as Intergalactic nomads traveling from planet to planet conquering and raiding the resources on each world.

I find it very interesting that this bit of 2010 UFO news reminds me very much of the movie Independence Day where aliens bear an uncanny resemblance to what Hawking described. In the movie, the aliens are described as being similar to locusts, moving from planet to planet devouring all resources from each one.

Regardless, I must admit that the professor indeed makes a valid point and he drove that point home in his conclusion which compared contact between alien races and humans to the outcome of Christopher Columbus making contact with Native Americans.

Now, let's take a look at the opposite view.

On September 27, 2010 seven former U.S. Air Force pilots delivered testimony stating that not only do aliens exist but they are and have been visiting us.

The pilots stated they had either reviewed reports documenting UFOs hovering above nuclear sites, or had personally witnessed these events.

Robert Hastings, a UFO researcher, stated that he, and the seven former U.S. Air Force Pilots, believe that this planet is currently being visited by beings from another world. Furthermore, they believe that for whatever reason, these alien visitors have taken an obvious interest in the nuclear arms race which began on Earth at the end of World War Two.

The pilots provided descriptions of the events. Describing red glowing objects, and other alien craft, that projected beams of light or energy down from thousands of feet above.

They claim the Malmstrom Air Force Base was the location of one such event back in 1967. UFOs appeared and temporarily disabled nuclear missiles by using these beams of energy.

In contrast to Stephen Hawking's view, the conclusion of the seven former U.S. Air Force Pilots is that, whoever these beings are, they obviously want us to stop our continual bickering between nations around the world and to cease the pursuit of nuclear weaponry. They aren't up to no good. How do we know this? Because they haven't obliterated us yet.

Of course, one may wonder why the aliens care.

Are their motives altruistic? Do they truly wish to save us from ourselves or do they view our nuclear weaponry as a threat to them.

Personally, I'd like to believe the former. It is my great hope that any beings far more advanced than us, and most likely far older than the human race, would have gained enough knowledge to make better choices and display more admirable characteristics than we have demonstrated through centuries of war and oppression.

I have heard many 'traders' say never to trade the news and especially the FOMC. This is confirmed by the change in price after the decision and the continuation in the days following.

I have been trading the Fed for eight years now and yes I have been burnt in the past and that is exactly how I have come to learn how to trade it properly. The most common pattern to trade the Fed is the whip-saw. But do not be fearful of it, embrace it. Here is how it happens, first there is a large spike one direction (traders come in and follow that direction)followed by a large spike in the opposite direction (those same traders now sell their first position at a loss and reverse their position - this is when I take a position in the direction of the original move)followed by an extended move back in the direction of the original spike (all the emotional trades are left sick to their stomachs) and I am left holding a very nice position setting myself up to capture a larger than average market move.

If this pattern does not play out exactly as outlined I stand on the sidelines and do not trade at all. Because the markets are moving fast in the period following the FOMC interest rate decision I am watching a very short time frame, mainly the one and five minute charts.

JT Thomas Inducted Into Minor League Football News Hall of Fame

James "JT" Thomas, former linebacker of the West Virginia Mountaineers, will be inducted into the Minor League Football News Hall of Fame on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Oasis Resort Hotel & Casino in Mesquite, Nevada.

Thomas' nomination was reviewed by the MLFN's Board of Directors, and he received notification of his acceptance on July 30.

Thomas has used strong leadership skills, tireless work ethic, and passion for the game to become a driving force in the development and promotion of minor league and semi-professional football across the Midwest.

The story of JT Thomas' football career can be broken into three distinct chapters: player, coach, and executive. Thomas' collegiate career started at Fort Scott Community College (Kansas) in 1992. Following his sophomore season, Thomas transferred to West Virginia University (WVU).

In two seasons at Fort Scott - both as team captain - Thomas earned two All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference honors at outside linebacker and Defensive Player of the Game in 1992's Valley of the Sun Bowl. At inside linebacker for WVU, Thomas received two Mountaineer Club Awards for on-field excellence, earned two All-Big East team honors, and won Defensive Player of the Game in the 1994 CarQuest Bowl. He also led both teams in tackles each season.

A successful college career led Thomas to the semi-pro football circuit in 1996 with the Charleston Rockets, where he was able to play with former WVU great Major Harris. Returning to outside linebacker, Thomas led the team in tackles and became a league All-Star as the Rockets finished their 11-game regular season 10-1. Thomas attempted to carry his success from semi-pro ball to the Arena Football League in 1997 with the Albany Firebirds, but sustained a career ending leg injury on the third day of training camp.

Instead of a helmet and pads, the next step of Thomas' football career featured a headset and clipboard. After a stint as Defensive Coordinator for a championship team of 13-16 year olds, Thomas returned to semi-pro football in 2000 as Head Coach of the West Virginia WHAM! Located in Morgantown, WV, Thomas compiled a .695 winning percentage (41 wins, 18 losses), won three Coach of the Year awards, and coached three league All-Star games in six seasons as WHAM! head coach.

In 2001, Thomas also led the WHAM! to the Mid-Ohio Football League (MOFL) Championship.

During the 2003 season, Thomas took over full ownership of the WHAM! When he stepped off the WHAM! sideline in 2005, he decided to shift his focus full-time towards developing the success of semi-professional football and the WHAM! franchise. In the two years since he has stopped coaching, Thomas has held executive positions within the Ohio Valley Football League and the MOFL. In January of 2007, Thomas was promoted to MOFL Commissioner.

Currently, Thomas oversees the day-to-day operations of the MOFL - an expanding, 10-team semi-pro league across Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky. Divorce Trials Are Almost Extinct

Why are there so few Divorce Trials in Rhode Island Family Court? If there are thousands of cases filed in Rhode Island Family Court, why are there so few trials?

Divorce trials are very different from divorce hearings. A hearing in Family Court is when a judge hears testimony of witnesses or hears arguments from counsel about pretrial matters such as Child Custody, Child Support, Child Visitation, Contempt, Restraining Orders, Discovery motions, Motions to Modify Child Support, Temporary Alimony etc.

Divorce hearings occur much more frequently than Divorce trials. When the parties reach a settlement there must be a brief "nominal" hearing. Husband and wife must testify at that nominal hearing. This type of hearing is a formality.

There are a myriad of reasons for the miniscule amount of Rhode Island Divorce Trials. A fundamental "culture" and practice has evolved over decades in Rhode Island Family Court. This Culture and Process encourages out of Court settlements both directly and indirectly. This process also subtly punishes those litigants who do not settle their divorce.

In some instances, the pressure for a settlement is direct from the Trial Judge. In other instances, the parties perceive that if they perceived as being unreasonable then there will be some sort of penalty or adverse ruling at trial. Often that perception is just a perception rather than a reality. Sometimes the perception is a reality.

In some ways, a divorce trial is viewed by the Court as a breakdown of the system. The entire process is premised around parties reaching a settlement prior to trial.

The system, in itself, tends to wear the parties down to the point that they feel they have no other realistic option but to settle. Parties can be worn down both emotionally and financially by the Rhode Island Family Court process.

As far as equitable division of Assets in a Rhode Island Divorce is concerned, there is usually no absolute winners and losers. In a Rhode Island Contract or Personal Injury case that goes to trial, there is usually a winner and loser. In a Rhode Island Criminal Trial, the accused is either guilty or not guilty after trial. In a Divorce Trial, the Family Court Judge attempts to fashion an equitable solution after trial. In other words, if you cannot settle your divorce there will be a quasi settlement imposed by the judge after hearing testimony.

A seasoned and experienced Rhode Island Divorce Lawyer often has a general idea as to the outcome of the divorce trial. Many cases settle because the attorney informs their client that they cannot in all likelihood do better at trial and may do a lot worse.

How do parties get worn down to the point of settlement?

There are often many Court dates prior to the Divorce Trial. These Court hearings involve waiting hours to have motions or Pretrial Conferences resolved. Cases are often continued for various reasons including the calendars of Lawyers, the litigants and the Judges. Some cases are continued because more information or documents are needed or more time is needed for various reasons.

There are often frequent review dates to determine the progress of certain orders. For example, in a Rhode Island Divorce involving Visitation or Child Custody issues, the Family Court may hold frequent review dates. These review dates often determine the progress and compliance with a visitations schedule. If a person is not paying child support on a timely basis or is falling behind on child support, there may be frequent review dates to insure compliance with Rhode Island Child Support Court orders.

In contentious Divorce cases, the parties through their Rhode Island Divorce lawyers often file frequent motions concerning: Child Custody, Child Support, Child Visitation, Restraining Orders and the disposition of Marital assets.

There are frequent Pretrial conferences. In a pretial conference, the judge attempts to facilitate a settlement or helps the parties find a middle ground towards settlement.

The Rhode Island Family Court process can wreak havoc on a litigants work schedule causing their employer to become disappointed. Some people lose their job as a result of frequent Rhode Island Family Court appearances. Some people lose income as a result of the Rhode Island Divorce process.

Many people lose a sense of their dignity going through the sometimes contentious, confusing and unpredictable RI Divorce process. There is one fundamental truth in Rhode Island Family Court. Everyone must go through a similar process irrespective or race, gender and socioeconomic class.
Usually in contested Rhode Island Divorce cases, the only thing that is predictable is the unpredictable nature of Rhode Island Family Court.

Attorney fees can become too expensive for a party to afford. Expensive Attorneys fees may be caused by frequent lengthy Court Dates, waiting in Court and the time and expense of answering discovery and preparing for the trial.

In some cases when one spouse has more resources then the other spouse they may try to drive up the other spouse' attorney fees to essentially force them into settlement. This is very unfair. However, it is the real world of Divorce in Rhode Island (RI).

The trial Judge will make every effort to encourage the husband and wife to come to a settlement prior to starting a trial. Some judges will require mediation by the Court appointed Mediators. Other Judges will require the parties to essentially lock themselves in a conference room with their lawyers in the Courthouse for a day or perhaps several days until they reach a settlement. Negotiating in the Courthouse prior to trial and mediation may be time consuming and expensive for the parties.

It is very expensive and time consuming endeavor for a Rhode Island Divorce Attorney to prepare for a Divorce Trial. Parties often want to curtail the amount of trial preparation because of the expense. A Rhode Island Divorce Lawyer must prepare testimony for all witnesses they intend to call to testify in the proceeding. the Attorney must prepare cross examinations of all opposing witnesses, prepare exhibits, prepare opening and closing statements. The Lawyer must also be prepared to argue motions as well as draft an extensive pretrial memorandum etc. Many clients do not want to pay the additional expense for their Attorneys' trial preparation and would rather settle.

Divorce trials are not similar to the trials that you see on television. Usually, judges have many other matters on the calendar on the day the divorce trial is scheduled. In Many instances, the divorce trial will not start until after 11am. It is not unusual for the court to allow only 2 hours a day for the actual trial. Sometimes the Court will hear less than 2 hours of trial testimony in a day. Therefore a trial can take many days to complete. Some Trials take weeks or months to complete.

Newport Family Court has 1 judge hearing divorce trials. That Judge is also responsible to hear and decide all Family Court matters in Newport County Family Court including Child Support, Divorce, Child Custody, Restraining orders etc. The Judge must resolve all matters scheduled for that day. The Judge cannot cancel all other important family Court business in order to hear a trial in Newport. The Judge must fit the trial into his or her schedule. This usually means that the trial will start after all of the courts business is resolved for that day. Newport County Includes Newport RI, Middletown, Portsmouth and Tiverton.

Kent County has 2 judges handling Divorce, Child Custody, Visitation and Family Court matters. Kent County Family Court includes Warwick, East Greenwich, Coventry and North Kingston.

Washington County Family Court has 1 judge hearing Divorce, Post Divorce Motions, Child Custody, Child support, Adoptions and Family Court matters. Washington county Family Court includes Wakefield, South Kingston and Narragansett etc.

Providence County Family Court includes Providence, Pawtucket, Barrington, Bristol, Warren, East Providence, Cumberland etc.

The Court system is overburdened and judges have many cases on the docket on a given day. If every case went to trial the system would break down. If a substantial percent of cases went to a divorce trial the system would break down. The Rhode Island Family Court Lacks the Judges and resources to have too many cases go to trial.

The Court does not tell you it is trying to wear you down. The Judges may not intend to wear you down. However, the entire process has the practical effect of wearing parties down until they feel that they must settle to cut their losses.

Even though some parties do not want to settle their divorce, they fear that going to trial will be a loss of control. The loss of control is essentially allowing the Trial judge to make decisions rather than the parties agreeing to a negotiated solution controlled by the parties. In a mediated / negotiated resolution, the parties have some control over the outcome even though they may in some ways be dissatisfied with the divorce settlement. There is often pressure from the Trial Court Judge both direct and indirect to resolve the matter short of trial. All Judges want to settle cases! Judges rarely want to hear divorce trials.

It is not unusual for a case to go to the day of trial yet settle before the trial starts. Why does this happen?
This phenomenon is often caused by clients and their lawyers attempting to get leverage to obtain the best settlement possible. There is obviously gamesmanship inherent in negotiations. Contentious Cases tend to settle immediately before a trial starts. Both sides are essentially driving at each other at 100 miles an hour but one or both usually veer at the last second to avert a collision.

What is the solution to this problem? The only real solution is to settle your divorce in a manner that is fair and equitable and in your best interests under the circumstances. Sometimes this is easier said than done!
